DAPTC Star Award: Certificate
The parish council is the level of government closest to the community and feeds into Dorset Council, the district authority.
As the authority closest to the people, the parish council is often the first place people come to with their concerns about or ideas for the parish, and as a result, it forms a vital part of any community. If you would like to know more about the role of the Parish Council, and how to become a Parish Councillor, please see here
Contacting the Council
You can contact us via our 'Contact Us' page. You can also join us at our Parish Council meetings.
All meetings begin with a 'Public Participation' session, which allows members of the public to ask questions, make representations, or discuss items on an agenda item. If you wish to raise a that is matter not related to the current agenda items, you may do so; however, the council’s discussion on that point may need to be deferred until a later meeting, as the council cannot make a legally binding decision unless a specific item is included on the agenda.
Planning Applications
The Parish Council is a statutory consultee in the planning process. It must be informed of all planning applications or application amendments that affect their parish area, and must consider their views when making decisions. However, the PC does not have the authority to approve or deny planning permission. Please let the council know if you have any comments or concerns relating to current applications.
You can see current and past planning applications under the Planning section of this website and on the Dorset Council site.
